TX FAME Overview

The Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (TX FAME) provides global-best workforce development through strong technical training, integration of manufacturing core competencies, intensive professional practices, and intentional hands-on experience to build the future of the modern manufacturing industry.

Advanced manufacturing Technology (AMT) Program

The TX FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Program allows individuals to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology through a technical college while working for a TX FAME company. In this two-year Department of Labor registered apprenticeship, individuals attend classes two days a week and spend the remaining three days at their sponsoring company. Individuals must both apply and be accepted to the technical college and a TX FAME company for the duration of the program. As a participant in the AMT program, Students will participate in hands on training and education to be developed as a fully rounded worker, including:

  • Electricity, Robotics, Fluid Power, Mechanics, PLCs, Industrial Troubleshooting
  • Manufacturing Core Exercises
  • Safety Culture, Visual Workplace Organization, Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, and Machine Reliability
  • Professional Behaviors
  • Attendance, Initiative, Diligence, Interpersonal Relations, Teamwork, Communication
Graduates of the TX FAME AMT Program earn:
  • Associate of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology
  • 60 college hours
  • 1,800 hours in work experience
The benefit to the student is that they are earning while learning, getting their education, and building their resume all at the same time- with the potential of zero student debt.
